BEREAVEMENT AND GRIEF
Because we understand a family’s needs go on after the death of a loved one, we provide a variety of grief support services throughout the first year of bereavement.
Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge offers an After Care program that provides opportunities to develop a better understanding of grief, learn coping skills, and share feelings with others who are experiencing loss.
It is not necessary to be a family member of a hospice patient to participate in the bereavement program. Anyone who has experienced loss is welcome to be part of this program. Bereavement services provided include:
Individual and family counseling before and after the patient's death
Family and caregiver support visits by specially trained staff and/or volunteers before and after a patient's death
Monthly informational mailings
Staff in-service programs
Community educational resources
Coffee and Conversations is a support group for anyone who has lost a loved one. The gathering will take place in a confidential, supportive environment. The group meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 4 PM.
