BEREAVEMENT AND GRIEF

Because we understand a family’s needs go on after the death of a loved one, we provide a variety of grief support services throughout the first year of bereavement.

BEREAVEMENT CARE
Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge offers an After Care program that provides  opportunities to develop a better understanding of grief, learn coping skills, and share feelings with others who are experiencing loss.
It is not necessary to be a family member of a hospice patient to participate in the bereavement program. Anyone who has experienced loss is welcome to be part of this program. Bereavement services provided include:

  • Individual and family counseling before and after the patient's death

  • Family and caregiver support visits by specially trained staff and/or volunteers before and after a patient's death

  • Telephone support

  • Monthly informational mailings

  • Support groups

  • Memorial services

  • Spiritual counseling

  • Staff in-service programs

  • Community educational resources

We offer a Grief Support Group for anyone who has lost a loved one. The gathering will take place in a confidential, supportive environment. The group meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 3:30 PM.
